A safe space for domestic abuse survivors navigating family courts
Building strength, hope, and connection for those who need it most.
A Safe Space Where We Get It
We are a survivor-led community supporting people navigating domestic abuse and the family court system. We understand how isolating and overwhelming this journey can feel, and we’re here to provide understanding, courage, and hope. While we don’t offer legal advice, we walk beside survivors—helping them feel supported, heard, and less alone.
Why Survivors Corner CIC Exists
The Domestic Abuse Commissioner’s report, laid before Parliament in October 2025, found that “domestic abuse was present in 87% of family court case files reviewed.” Despite this, survivors navigating family courts continue to face significant gaps in support.
Earlier findings in 2021 showed that 89% of domestic abuse survivors going through the family court system received no support at all. While the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 introduced vital protections, emotional and trauma-informed support within the family justice system remains inconsistent and limited.
As survivors who have navigated the family court system from 2022 to the present, we experienced firsthand that legal representation alone was not enough. Domestic abuse and mental health services were helpful, but none addressed the unique trauma of family court proceedings, and there were no survivor-led peer spaces to turn to.
Survivors Corner exists to fill this gap — providing survivor-led, trauma-informed emotional support so survivors feel heard, validated, and empowered while navigating the family court system.
Your Rights and Safety in Family Court

Although these legal protections exist, they are not always applied consistently in practice. Understanding your rights can help you raise safety concerns, ask for appropriate protections, and seek specialist support if the process does not feel safe or fair.
Survivors Corner CIC can support you to understand your options, request appropriate protections, and prioritise your safety throughout the family court process.
Always Remember
• The court process can be confusing — you are not expected to know everything.
• Asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.
• You can ask for support and adjustments at any stage.
• You are brave. Speaking up and seeking help takes courage.
• You have the right to be safe. Your safety and your children’s safety come first.
• You do not have to face this alone. Survivors Corner CIC is here to walk alongside you.
